Editorial policy and halal standard
Last updated: October 24, 2026.
Quick Supper Ideas is a small, independent site run by Abdelkarim Mamarch (Karim), a home cook. This page explains how recipes get onto the site, what "halal" means here, and what we do and do not claim.
How recipes are developed
Karim develops and writes every recipe. Each one starts from established home-cooking techniques and is built around supermarket ingredients, a short equipment list and a hard limit: prep plus cook time must be 20 minutes or less. That limit is enforced in the site's build, so a recipe whose stated times add up to more than 20 minutes cannot be published.
Before a recipe goes live, Karim checks the prep and cook times step by step, cross-checks that the ingredient list, the steps and the article text use the same quantities, and adds the visual and sensory cues (color, texture, sound) that tell you a step is done. Your stove, pan and ingredient sizes will change the timing a little, which is why those cues are there.
Karim is not a professional chef, a dietitian or a food scientist, and the site does not claim otherwise. Internal temperatures for meat, poultry and seafood follow USDA food-safety guidance. Calorie figures, where shown, are estimates and not medical or nutritional advice.
Our halal standard
- No pork or pork-derived ingredients (bacon, ham, pancetta, prosciutto, lard, pork gelatin).
- No alcohol as an ingredient, including wine, beer, sherry, mirin and cooking liqueurs. Where a classic version uses them, we say so and use a substitute such as broth, a splash of vinegar or smoked paprika.
- Meat and poultry recipes assume halal meat and halal broth. We remind you in the recipe where it matters.
- Cheese and packaged products: some cheeses use animal rennet and some sauces or seasonings contain hidden animal fats or alcohol. Where that is a risk, the recipe tells you to check the label or choose a halal-certified or microbial-rennet product.
We are not a halal certification body and we do not certify products. "Halal" on this site means the recipe itself contains no pork and no alcohol and is written for halal ingredients; checking the certification of what you buy is up to you and your own standard.
Images and AI assistance
Recipe hero and step images on this site are AI-generated illustrations. They show what a finished dish or cooking stage typically looks like; they are not photographs of a specific batch, and your dish may look a little different. Recipe text, ingredients and timings are written and checked by Karim.
Reviews, ratings and claims
We do not publish invented reviews, star ratings, testimonials or reader counts. We do not invent statistics. When a recipe mentions a search trend, it refers to publicly visible data such as Google Trends at the time of writing.
Independence and advertising
The site is not sponsored by any food brand, retailer or appliance maker. It may show display ads and sells its own cookbook; neither changes what a recipe says. See the privacy policy for details.
Corrections and updates
If a step takes longer than stated, a quantity looks wrong or an ingredient is not halal, please contact us. We fix confirmed errors and update the "Updated" date on the recipe. Read more about Quick Supper Ideas.
